Sara Shoener is an advocate and researcher of strategies to reduce gender-based violence. At the intersection of academic and advocacy communities, Shoener focuses on projects that identify and address the ways in which social inequality and violence exacerbate one another. Her work has been featured in print and online publications including The New York Times, New York Magazine, Salon, Talking Points Memo, Feministing, and MTV Act. She obtained her DrPH in Sociomedical Sciences and her MPH in Health Promotion from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health.
